Now is the time for further action.

  1. Open your word processor (e.g. Word)
  2. Open the letter by clicking here . Highlight it, copy it and past it into your word processor. You may want to make some alterations. Feel free to do so.
  3. Open the list of Tendring District Councillors (click arrow, left) and choose one or more to whom you want to send the letter (you can send it to any of them). Copy and paste their address into the letter. You will need to remove their affiliation and re-set the font size.
  4. Put in your own address, prepare an envelope, sign the letter and post it. You can repeat this to any of the other councilors.
  5. Unfortunately, you will have to pay for the stamp. Only snail-mail letters to our members are pre-paid.
  6. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Dear Councillor

I am writing to let you know of my objection to the proposed Tesco store in Manningtree. A development of this type and scale is not needed or appropriate for the area for many reasons, but particularly on the following grounds:

  • It is contrary to Local Plan policy (on employment and retail need)
  • Will impact in a negative way on the vitality and viability of Manningtree
  • Will bring unacceptable levels of traffic congestion to Manningtree and the surrounding roads in very small and historic villages
  • Design lacks any form of quality and would serve to detract from Manningtree’s historic architectural beauty

With this in mind, I would like to let you know that if you intend to support this plan then myself and a significant proportion of the voting public of your district would be extremely disappointed.

Yours Faithfully
